It watches your cloud providers' own published uptime data, compares it against the service level commitments those providers publish themselves, and prepares a credit claim when a commitment is missed — quoting the provider's own figures and their own credit schedule.
It does not guarantee that any credit will be found, granted or paid. Whether a provider honours its own schedule is entirely the provider's decision. Cloudflare and AWS accept SLA claims only through their own support process, so the finished claim is handed to you to submit — this service cannot file it for you.
Uptime figures come from the providers' own published status data, or from an independent monitor in the case of AWS. Those sources can be incomplete or wrong, and a claim built on them can be refused for that reason.
15% to 20% of credit actually received by you, depending on the size of your monthly cloud bill — the exact rate is agreed and fixed before you connect anything, and every tier is published on the home page. Not of credit detected, claimed or filed — of credit confirmed as reaching your account. In a month where nothing is recovered, nothing is charged.
You save a card once. It is charged automatically for each confirmed recovery, and Stripe emails you a receipt naming the recovery it relates to. Charging is per recovery, not monthly, and there is no minimum, no subscription and no fee for holding an account open.
The fee is agreed with you before any account is connected and is fixed for the term unless changed by agreement in writing.
You supply read-only credentials. This service cannot alter anything in your cloud accounts, and does not ask for permission to. You can revoke those credentials at any time from your provider's own console, which stops the service working immediately and needs no notice to us.
You can close your account at any time, with no notice and no exit fee. Your credentials and monitoring data are erased on closure and your saved card is dropped so it cannot be charged again. Fees already incurred on credits already recovered remain payable. Records of past charges are retained as described in the privacy notice.
Uptime IOU is not liable for a provider declining a claim, for errors or omissions in a provider's own published status or billing data, or for any downtime you experience. Liability is limited to the fees you have paid in the preceding twelve months, and excludes indirect or consequential loss.
This clause has not been reviewed by a solicitor. It states a conventional position in plain English; it is not a substitute for advice, and it should be reviewed before a customer of any size signs.
